Add the NetWorthTrackr MCP server to VS Code
In VS Code, run MCP: Open User Configuration and add NetWorthTrackr as an http server with the url https://mcp.networthtrackr.com. Sign in when VS Code asks, and GitHub Copilot can read your net worth, accounts and holdings in agent mode, in every workspace.
Add it to your user configuration
VS Code keeps MCP servers per user or per workspace. Use the user configuration so NetWorthTrackr is available everywhere and never lands in a project's .vscode folder.
- Open the Command Palette and run MCP: Open User Configuration.
- Add the networthtrackr entry below inside "servers" and save.
- Open Copilot Chat in agent mode and ask "What is my net worth?". Sign in to NetWorthTrackr when VS Code prompts you.
User mcp.json
{
"servers": {
"networthtrackr": {
"type": "http",
"url": "https://mcp.networthtrackr.com"
}
}
}Prefer a guided flow? Run MCP: Add Server, choose HTTP, paste the address, and pick the global (user) destination when asked.
Things to ask Copilot
- “Use NetWorthTrackr to list my accounts and create a markdown table of balances in notes/finance.md.”
- “What share of my assets is in each currency?”
- “Record 2,450 on my credit card for today.”
If something goes wrong
The tools do not show up in chat. Use the Configure Tools button in the chat input and make sure the NetWorthTrackr tools are switched on, and that chat is in agent mode.
The server fails to start or sign in. Run MCP: List Servers, select networthtrackr and choose Show Output to see its log.
