Add the NetWorthTrackr MCP server to Cursor
Add NetWorthTrackr to ~/.cursor/mcp.json with the url https://mcp.networthtrackr.com. Cursor asks you to sign in the first time the agent uses it; after that, the agent can read your net worth, accounts and holdings in any project, and record balances when you ask.
Add it to your global config
Cursor reads MCP servers from ~/.cursor/mcp.json for every project, and from .cursor/mcp.json for one project. Use the global file: your net worth belongs to you, not to a repository.
~/.cursor/mcp.json
{
"mcpServers": {
"networthtrackr": {
"url": "https://mcp.networthtrackr.com"
}
}
}- Open or create ~/.cursor/mcp.json and add the networthtrackr entry above (merge it into mcpServers if the file already has servers).
- Ask the agent "What is my net worth?". Cursor starts the NetWorthTrackr sign-in in your browser; sign in and approve.
- NetWorthTrackr and its tools now show in Cursor’s MCP settings, where you can switch the server or single tools off.
Things to ask in Cursor
- “Generate a CSV of my account balances and save it to data/networth.csv.”
- “Using my real currency exposure, fill in the inputs of this rebalancing script.”
- “What is my net worth in USD, and how much did it change over the last 3 months?”
If something goes wrong
The server shows an error. Open the Output panel (Cmd+Shift+U on macOS), choose MCP Logs, and look for the networthtrackr line. A JSON syntax error in mcp.json is the usual cause.
No sign-in window appeared. Ask the agent to use a NetWorthTrackr tool; sign-in starts on first use, not when the file is saved.
Common questions
Global (~/.cursor/mcp.json). A project file would only work in that folder, and could end up committed to a shared repository.
No. Cursor signs you in to NetWorthTrackr with OAuth the first time, and keeps a token. There is no key to copy.
Delete the networthtrackr entry from ~/.cursor/mcp.json, or switch it off in Cursor’s MCP settings.
