Add the NetWorthTrackr MCP server to Gemini CLI
Run gemini mcp add --transport http --scope user networthtrackr https://mcp.networthtrackr.com, start gemini, and run /mcp auth networthtrackr to sign in. Gemini CLI can then read your net worth, accounts and holdings in any folder, and record balances when you ask.
Add it for every folder
Gemini CLI saves a new server to the current project by default. --scope user puts it in ~/.gemini/settings.json instead, so it works wherever you start gemini.
Terminal
gemini mcp add --transport http --scope user networthtrackr https://mcp.networthtrackr.com
- Start gemini.
- Run
/mcp auth networthtrackr. A browser page opens: sign in to NetWorthTrackr and approve. - Run
/mcpto see the server and its tools, then ask “What is my net worth?”.
The same entry, if you edit ~/.gemini/settings.json by hand:
~/.gemini/settings.json
{
"mcpServers": {
"networthtrackr": {
"httpUrl": "https://mcp.networthtrackr.com"
}
}
}Things to ask Gemini CLI
- “Summarise my net worth by category and save it as summary.md.”
- “How much of my net worth is in INR, and how has that changed this year?”
- “Add 10 shares of RELIANCE.NS bought at 2,850.”
If something goes wrong
Tools return an authorisation error. Run /mcp auth networthtrackr again to renew the sign-in.
The server is missing in one folder. A project-level .gemini/settings.json may define its own servers. Check with gemini mcp list.
Common questions
Gemini CLI defaults to project scope, which only works in the folder you ran the command in. User scope makes NetWorthTrackr available everywhere.
Gemini CLI keeps OAuth tokens in your home folder, not in the project. NetWorthTrackr never sees or stores your Google account.
Run gemini mcp remove networthtrackr.
