Add the NetWorthTrackr MCP server to OpenAI Codex

Run codex mcp add networthtrackr --url https://mcp.networthtrackr.com, then codex mcp login networthtrackr to sign in. The server goes into your user config, shared by the Codex CLI, the Codex IDE extension and the ChatGPT desktop app, so they can all read your net worth, accounts and holdings.

Add it and sign in

Codex keeps MCP servers in ~/.codex/config.toml, which applies everywhere, so there is no scope to choose.

Terminal

codex mcp add networthtrackr --url https://mcp.networthtrackr.com
codex mcp login networthtrackr
  1. Run the first command to add the server.
  2. Run the second; your browser opens the NetWorthTrackr sign-in. Sign in and approve.
  3. Check it with codex mcp list, or /mcp inside a Codex session.

The resulting entry in config.toml, if you prefer to edit it by hand:

~/.codex/config.toml

[mcp_servers.networthtrackr]
url = "https://mcp.networthtrackr.com"

Things to ask Codex

  • “Pull my net worth history for 12 months and plot it with matplotlib.”
  • “Write a script that warns me when an account has not been updated for 30 days, using NetWorthTrackr.”
  • “What are my holdings, and which have gained more than 20%?”

If something goes wrong

Tools fail with an authorisation error. The sign-in expired or never finished. Run codex mcp login networthtrackr again.

The server is not listed. Run codex mcp list. If it is missing, add it again; codex mcp --help lists every command, including removal.

Common questions
