Net worth tracker for the UK

Track everything you own and owe in pounds, including the accounts people in the UK actually hold: ISAs, a Lifetime ISA, SIPPs, workplace pensions and Premium Bonds. UK-listed shares and ETFs price themselves, money abroad converts nightly, and no bank login is ever required.

Why US net worth apps fall short in the UK

Most of the well-known net worth apps are American. Empower links to US institutions only and needs a US phone number. Monarch's coverage is built for the US and Canada. Both think in 401(k)s and IRAs, not ISAs and SIPPs.

UK budgeting apps connect to your bank well, but they are built around spending. Pensions, property and Premium Bonds tend to be an afterthought, and net worth is often a paid extra.

Tracking UK accounts

Savings and investments

  • Cash ISAs and Stocks and Shares ISAs
  • Lifetime ISA, counting the bonus once it lands
  • Premium Bonds, at their face value
  • General investment accounts
  • Easy-access and fixed-rate savings

Listed shares and ETFs price themselves.

Pensions, property and debt

  • SIPPs and workplace pensions
  • Your home, at an honest sale price
  • Mortgage, credit cards and loans
  • Student loan, if you choose to count it
  • Car finance and personal contract plans

Each is its own account with its own history.

Every account is entered the same way: a name, a category, a currency and a balance. A building society account, a Junior ISA you hold for a child, or money lent to family all fit, because nothing has to be on a supported-bank list.

Pensions and the student loan question

Defined contribution pensions (most workplace pensions and every SIPP) have a pot value on each statement. Use it, and update it when the statement arrives.

Defined benefit pensions pay an income rather than holding a pot, so they have no balance to copy. Most people leave them out of net worth and note the expected income separately. The State Pension is the same.

Student loans divide people. A loan repaid through salary and written off after a set period behaves more like a tax than a debt, so many people exclude it. Others count it to be conservative. Either is fine; pick one and stay consistent so your history compares like with like.

Money outside the UK

If you hold savings in euros, a US brokerage account or property abroad, each account stays in its own currency and the total converts nightly into pounds at European Central Bank reference rates. 31 currencies are supported. More in tracking net worth across currencies.

Common questions

If you want budgeting with bank connections, Emma is popular, with net worth tracking on its Pro tier. If you only want net worth, including pensions, property and money abroad, NetWorthTrackr is free, works in pounds and never asks for a bank login. A spreadsheet is the free do-it-yourself option.

Yes. NetWorthTrackr is free with every feature and works in pounds, with UK-listed shares and ETFs priced automatically. A spreadsheet is the other free option.

Include defined contribution pensions, such as SIPPs and most workplace pensions, at their latest statement value. Defined benefit pensions and the State Pension pay an income rather than holding a pot, so most people leave them out.

It is a personal choice. Because UK student loans are repaid through salary and written off after a set period, many people treat them more like a tax and leave them out. Others include them to be conservative. Whichever you choose, keep it consistent.

At their face value, since you can cash them in for what you paid. Prizes are added when they arrive.

No. Nothing connects to any bank, by design. You enter balances yourself, and UK-listed shares and ETFs price themselves from public market data.
